An Unexpected Visitor

Just taking a quick moment out of my work day to share this:

So here I am, hard at work at my day job... I pick up a big pile of reports from my office floor, and see one of these guys clinging to the side of the stack of papers:

Note: This is not the actual centipede in my office, just a picture I found on Wikipedia. I did not have my camera on me, and if I did, I doubt I'd have had the presence of mind to snap an actual photo.

I'm generally not afraid of bugs, and I actually have great respect for the house centipede, but I still think they look like monsters. So while I'm glad the little guy I found is probably off hunting all sorts of less savory, and potentially harmful, insects, I'm not too happy about the fact that he chose to scurry under my desk, or that I chose to wear open-toed shoes today.
I promise my next post will involve more jewelry/other fun stuff and less scary-looking insects. And to make up for the yucky picture, here's a cute one:

Elvis staring at the flowers in our front yard last summer. He woke me up at 4:00am today. He's lucky he's so cute.

  1. Ohhh no....I dont like bugs but I adore dogs and yours is beautiful:)
    Kisses and enjoy your day

  2. Hi Stephanie. I just found your blog from your comment on DailyWorth. I think your plan with making recycled jewelry is great. Hope you can keep it up. Maybe if my Etsy shop grows, I'll get some extra money and be able to buy one of your pieces :)

About that crazy bug!.. I haven't seen one of those in many, many years. We used to get them in the basement of our house in Virginia. I've lived in Florida now for ten years and thought I was pretty used to big bugs, but when I saw this pic, it...well...yuck..what can I say...we used to call them GMFs, for Gross MFs (you can guess what that stands for). Hah, I've since cleaned up my language, but I still think of them that way.

    Hope you don't find anymore!!

  3. I love this photo of the puppy!
